Building Inclusive Communities: The Importance of Community Integration in the Arab Region

Community integration is a priority area of social action identified at the 1995 World Summit for Social Development, where world leaders committed to promoting social inclusion and building stable, secure, and equitable societies through the Copenhagen Declaration.

It involves the opportunity for individuals to live in the community and be valued for their unique abilities, just like everyone else.

This includes areas such as housing, employment, and citizenship and is dependent on the promotion and protection of all human rights, non-discrimination, tolerance, and the participation of all persons.

Since the World Summit, community integration has been seen as a goal for social and economic development, with the aim of creating a society where everyone, with their rights and responsibilities, plays an active role.

However, the Arab region faces significant challenges in achieving this, including a volatile political situation, conflicts, high unemployment, and poverty.

Additionally, social adjustment is a mechanism for individuals to be involved within a group and share its values.

In conclusion, community integration plays a vital role in protecting society from discrimination and conflicts, promoting recovery, and increasing the utilization of mainstream support and resources.
